Board of Trustees

The Manchester Essex Education Fund board is composed of members of the communities it serves, and representatives from the guidance department at the Manchester Essex Regional High School. The board is all-volunteer. If you wish to become involved, we welcome your inquiries.

John H. Abbott, Chair
John H. Abbott is the former Jack AbbottPresident/CEO of Boston Financial Management, Inc. and Chair of the Board. A resident of Manchester, he is a founding member and chairman of the investment committee of his church, a Trustee and Treasurer of the USS Constitution Museum and a fifteen-year Director of the Manchester Essex Education Fund. Jack was Class Agent and Vice Chairman of the Capital Campaign of Bowdoin College and a Director of the Big Brother Association of Boston. He is an investment consultant and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. Jack is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Timothy C. Averill
Tim Averill served the Tim AverillManchester and Manchester Essex schools from 1971 until his retirement in 2005. He founded the Manchester Essex Speech and Debate team and served as coach for the first 35 years. Tim also served as English Department Chair from 1975-2005, teaching Advanced Placement English literature. When Tim retired, he began part-time work at Waring School in Beverly as Writing Department Chair, Debate Coach, and teacher. Tim has served on the Board of trustees since 2000.
Ann Cameron
A managing editor at EBSCO Publishing, Annie Cameron is the mother of four children. She has served on the Essex PTO, the MERSD Regionalization Subcommittee, MERSD School Building Committee and currently serves as vice-chairperson for the MERSD School Committee.
Linda H. Crosby
A teacher, administrator and Linda Crosbydirector of guidance at Manchester and later Manchester Essex schools, Linda Crosby devoted most of her professional life to serving the young people of our community. Since her retirement in 2005, she became a co-founder of the Manchester Enrichment Fund and is a five year member of the Manchester School Committee, for which she is currently serves as Chairperson. In addition she was, until recently, a director of CAB Recovery Services, an arm of Northeast Health Systems. Linda has been a director of the Manchester Essex Education Fund for twenty years. Currently she is affiliated with the Waring School in Beverly as its Director of College Counseling.
Karen D'Amour
Karen D’Amour has been a Karen D'Amourschool counselor and/or guidance director since 1978. Presently she is employed at Manchester Essex Regional High School. She has experience developing school counseling programs for public high schools, has been a relocation director for a large real estate firm and is past president of three school counseling organizations including the Massachusetts School Counseling Association. Karen is currently part of an educational initiative involving the Pine Ridge Reservation in North Dakota. She has served on the Manchester Essex Education Fund since 2005.
Nick de Sherbinin
Nick de Nick de SherbininSherbinin is a partner at 360 Branding & Communications, Boston. A Manchester resident for 30 years, his two daughters are graduates of Manchester Essex Regional High School. He is a long-time supporter of the regional district and coached youth soccer with the Manchester Soccer Club. He has served on the board of the Manchester Essex Education Fund since 2012.
Jeffrey D. Jones
Jeff Jones is Jeffrey D. JonesPresident and CEO of Melrose Bancorp, Inc. Jeff is a lifelong resident of Essex and currently resides there with wife Rebecca. Their two daughters both attended Manchester-Essex Regional Schools. He is active community member, serving on the Melrose Rotary Club and The Fitch Retirement Home Board of Directors, and was a member of the Essex Board of Selectman for 12 years.
Beverly Low
Beverly Low is the Director of Beverly LowGuidance & College Counseling at Manchester Essex Middle High School. Formerly the Dean of First-Year Students at Colgate University, Beverly has been advising, mentoring, nudging, and guiding students for almost 25 years. She specializes in coaching young people (and their parents) on the academic preparation and skill development required for a successful transition from secondary school to college. Beverly holds her M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in English from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Melanie Oldeman
Melanie Oldeman is a Melanie Oldemanfounding partner at The Prose Group, a boutique business writing service based in Manchester. Her professional background includes investor relations and marketing communications for a private equity firm as well as biotechnology, medical device and health care services companies. Melanie has served as a Girl Scout leader, Literacy Volunteer and PTO committee chair, and currently serves on the Manchester Essex Middle School Council. A graduate of Manhattanville College, she was a Rotary Youth Exchange student to Japan and has co-founded two non-profit organizations. Melanie lives in Manchester with her husband and two school-aged children.
E. Gail Ramos
Gail Ramos is the former vice Gail Ramospresident/senior trust officer for the Cape Ann Savings Bank Trust and Financial Services. Gail holds the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner®, Certified Trust and Financial Advisor, Certified IRA Specialist, and Certified Financial Services Counselor. Gail is a Past Member of the Town of Manchester by-the-Sea Finance Committee and Capital Plans Advisory Committee, the Board of the North Shore United Way and the Board of Essex County Estate Planners Association. She is a life-long resident of Manchester, where she currently resides with her husband Ronald.
Chris Shea
Chris Shea
The former owner and managing partner of The Chris Shea photoLanding at 7 Central and The Marblehead Landing, Chris is the president of the Manchester / Essex Rotary Club. A graduate of Holy Cross College, he serves on the board of the Masconomo Council Knights of Columbus and sits on the Manchester Downtown Improvement Committee. A 30 year resident of Manchester, both of his children are graduates of MERHS.
Christopher Weld
Chris Weld, also known Kit Weldas “Kit”, is past Chair of the Board and has been a Board member for many years. The Weld family, including Chris’ mother Sally and brother Mark, have been involved in and actively supported the Fund since its inception. The Sally Weld scholarship fund remains one of the largest funds managed by the organization and has awarded of tens of thousands of scholarships to young people in the Manchester and Essex communities. Chris is also the Chairman of the Board of Project Adventure, Inc. in Beverly and is a Trustee of the Donald A. Towle Foundation. Chris is a graduate of Manchester High School, Stanford University and Boston College Law School. He is managing partner of Todd & Weld LLP, a law firm he helped found located in Boston and specializing in litigation. He currently lives in Hamilton.
